Sandy Hook Re Dedication
Date Line: Saturday June 10,2000 The National Park Service marked the end of the Sandy Hook Restoration Project Just one day short of the 236th anniversary of The original Lighting of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse. Renovations has closed this Sentinel to the Sea from Sept 1999 till This eventful day of June 10,2000. Sa you can see by the previous pages and photos , much has been done to the exterior of this lighthouse. some of the work that has been done included the repair of the Lantern room, windows were replaced the steps were fixed and repainted, the stone work was patched and the most visible rust stain was removed. The entire tower was power washed, the old paint striped and a breathable paint was put in place on the exterior. The contractor that was commissioned for this project has to be commended for a job well done.
